Radio & WiFi

I admit, I'm out of my comfort zone here. I thought that emergency channels worked on completely different frequencies. Regardless, you can use your device as a Police scanner, among other things, which is really cool. Of course, there are the standard WiFi apps listed here, which are also very useful.

Use your device to tap into local radio transmissions, such as police, fire and ambulance.

WiFi Analyzer

Anything and everything you want to know about wireless signals in your area can be found using this app, both graphically and statistically. It's like the Android equivalent of inSSIDer.

WiFi Connector Library

This is not an app, but an add-on to programs such as WiFi Analyzer, that will allow you to turn your WiFi on and connect/disconnect from networks. If you get WiFi Analyzer, you should also download this.
