Emulators

The gaming consoles of the past have some of my favourite games, that are no longer available. I still have many of my older systems, specifically for this reason. Of course, with modern systems, many emulators exist to bring these old gems to newer systems and Android is no different.

EMUParadise is one of the greatest online resources for old school emulators, including most of the ones available for Android devices.

Any Emulator BIOS

This is not a gaming emulator. It is simply an app to copy the ROM BIOS for various gaming consoles onto your Android device. This is a necessary component for several emulators. Only install the ones you need.

The Atari 2600 was my first and favourite game console. You can't get it from the Play store, though. You will need to get it from here.

Most Android devices have Bluetooth connectivity and as such, they have the ability to connect to various game controllers in order to use them for your emulators and other games.

Gameboy Advance was Nintendo's third installation of Gameboy portable consoles. It was far more advanced than earlier versions. There is a copy on the Google Play store, but I'm not sure if it's the same as the free one from here.

The Sega Genesis was not a portable gaming system. In fact, it was the first system that actually used CD's, instead of cartridges and is considered a fourth generation console, using a 16 bit instruction set. Download it from here.

Intellivision was one of the first generation gaming consoles. Unfortunately, they like many others, did not last long in the market. Intellivision chose to save the company and get out of the console market early, which was probably the best decision for them. They had a lot of great first generation games, however.

The Nintendo 64 was the most popular gaming console Nintendo ever made. Unfortunately, their entries since then have been less than stellar. However, games like Mario Kart are still all time favourites. Get the emulator here.
